On walking without a destination

There is a particular kind of clarity that only arrives when the walk has no purpose. The street you have passed a thousand times reveals a new doorway, a different tree, the way light sits on a wall at five in the afternoon.

Three books I keep returning to

Some books are not read once. They sit on the shelf and wait, and when you take them down again they have quietly become a different book. These three have been that for me.
